ULM MBA Oath Initiative

What are your thaughts on Us joining this initiative?

The oath is a voluntary pledge for graduating MBAs to “create value responsibly and ethically” and was initiated by Harward Business School students.

The long-term goal is to transform the field of management into a true profession, one in which MBAs are respected for their integrity, professionalism, and leadership.

Chech it out here:

The Oath is as follows:

"As a manager, my purpose is to serve the greater good by bringing people and resources together to create value that no single individual can create alone. Therefore I will seek a course that enhances the value my enterprise can create for society over the long term. I recognize my decisions can have far-reaching consequences that affect the well-being of individuals inside and outside my enterprise, today and in the future. As I reconcile the interests of different constituencies, I will face choices that are not easy for me and others.

Therefore I promise:
I will act with utmost integrity and pursue my work in an ethical manner.
I will safeguard the interests of my shareholders, co-workers, customers and the society in which we operate.
I will manage my enterprise in good faith, guarding against decisions and behavior that advance my own narrow ambitions but harm the enterprise and the societies it serves.
I will understand and uphold, both in letter and in spirit, the laws and contracts governing my own conduct and that of my enterprise.
I will take responsibility for my actions, and I will represent the performance and risks of my enterprise accurately and honestly.
I will develop both myself and other managers under my supervision so that the profession continues to grow and contribute to the well-being of society.
I will strive to create sustainable economic, social, and environmental prosperity worldwide.
I will be accountable to my peers and they will be accountable to me for living by this oath.
This oath I make freely, and upon my honor."

End of Recession!

It is infact the end of the recession, they say. Prominent economists put forth their opinions in a candid discussion. With the Dow actually closing a few points higher pretty regularly in the past few days, it is a good sign that the recession might be slipping away.

Take a look HERE for a detailed read of the discussion.

First Blog!

Welcome to the new MBA blog of the University of Louisiana at Monroe! Here, you'll find the inside scoops and tidbits of the the MBA life at ULM. We'll have current students, faculty, and even alumni chime in regularly to provide news, announcements, or otherwise just daily scoops of life at ULM. As we move along, we'll have improvements and additions to this blog. So keep tuning in!

To start off with, here're a couple of pictures of the ULM MBA Association (MBAA), which had their first meeting of the semester. It has been decided that a regular feature of the MBAA meetings will be an interactive session with a faculty member to get to know the person, since we can hardly do that in class. Dr. Bob Eisenstadt was the speaker for the debut session, and I must say, he is one cool dude - Pilot, professor, environmentalist, economist... he has already set the bar high for future sessions!

A group snap of the MBAA - a truly international organization!
